lost log 2
Who: Lobo, Anita Fite What: Anita casts a spell and Lobo must face the consequences. When: 2 weeks ago Where: Anita's House Status: Completed
Lobo was sitting around the apartment eating mushrooms out of a large container, drinking a bottle of beer, and not particularly good beer at that. He was on the couch watching tv, flipping so quickly that he couldn't possibly be giving each channel a chance. "No. No. No. No." Mushroom. "NO."
Anita came in from after class, dropped her keys on the table and moved behind the couch, leaning over and giving him a kiss on the cheek before prying the box of mushrooms out of his hands. "These are for the gumbo, and why are you drinking the cooking beer? Did you drink all of the beer I bought yesterday already?" She asked, moving over to the cabinet to check if the 24 pack of Shocktop was still there. Seeing that it was she raised her eyebrow at him. "You like Natty Ice?"
The mushrooms had just looked so good after he had worked out, that he couldn't help it. Then he had grabbed a beer, and plopped himself down for relaxation time. I have no idea how she puts up with him at times, I'd kill him. "They just looked so good sitting there in the fridge, who can resist a giant tub of mushrooms?" Lobo looked at the beer he had been drinking and shrugged. Sadly, he hadn't even really noticed. "Oh, this IS Natty Ice, huh."
Anita had just set the mushrooms down and started pulling out other ingredients to add to the already stewing pot of meats and gravys when he said that. she rolled her eyes and amusedly flung her hands up, as though asking the spirits what to do with him. Not commenting though she began chopping vegetables and adding them to the gumbo , stirring them in as she added them. It'd been simmering for three nights and tonight the finishing touches would make it perfect.
Once she was done she put some of the good beer in the fridge, grabbed a wine bottle and two glasses and went to the couch, settling next to him and leaning against him. "What you watching?" She asked as she distractedly ran her hand over his chest, smiling in contentment. She'd moved the last of her things from her dorm back into the apartment just yesterday. It felt like home now.
"I was watching cops but then it ended so I've been flipping. Everything on t.v. is LAME right now." Lobo passed by a show on TLC called ER emergencies gone wrong and had flipped passed it, but quickly put it back on with a smile. He looked at her though and gave her a kiss, wrapping an arm around her.
Anita wrinkled her nose at the sight of some poor impaled bastard and looked away from the TV, smiling when Lobo kissed her. "I hope you're still hungry later... not that I doubt you could eat. Also... that thing we talked about. It's ready. I don't know if it'll work but... It's ready."
"It's just a little impalement, why if you do it right the person can live for at least another ten min..." Lobo smiled suddenly and gave her a kiss to help changing the subject. "If it doesn't work it doesn't work. Let's do it and get it over with huh?"
"What if it backfires? I'm afraid it could go wrong. What if you age up again or something?" She said, suddenly more nervous now that she was actually going to do the spell then she had been all week as she prepared everything.
"I won't leave 'Nita. You sure as hell won't want me older though, you think I have no censor NOW, wait till you see me older."
She frowned and then looked up at him, her eyes searching his for a few minutes. Then she took a deep breath, sat up and poured herself a very full glass of wine and chugged it like it was soda. When she'd done that she poured another for sipping. "Alright." She said, releasing a shaky breath. "But if you leave me with all this gumbo to eat I'm going to be pissed." She blinked back the tears that threatened at the thought of possibly losing him tonight.
"I'd NEVER leave a woman with a giant pot of gumbo, or a woman who can COOK a giant pot of gumbo." Not one to get emotional or sappy, that was pretty much the closest he got. He smiled and kissed her again. Lobo took a swig from the wine bottle and after he had done so quickly realized his mistake, pouring it into the second glass.
She didn't comment on him drinking from the bottle this time, just sighed and nodded to herself. She needed to believe that he wouldn't take off and she needed to believe that her loa knew what they were doing, or she really would risk losing him. Taking another gulp of courage she inhaled a deep calming breath and took his hand, tugging until he was up and then leading him back into her alter-room.
"Stand here." She said, pulling him into the center of the room. The alter had been greatly changed in the last few days, the saints changed out, it was now covered in feathers and clothbound items. there was a chalice in the center and various jars of powders, roots herbs and what looked like rocks. She began burning sage, smudging around the room and then used one of the jars of powder to spread a circle around the two of them.
Calling out to the spirits her eyes lit from behind with an inner fire and she began chanting and moving around him, using objects she'd taken from the alter before drawing the circle. The room slowly filled with the pungent scents of burning candles, incense, sage and powders that she fed to a small lit charcoal circle in a cauldron. Finally she picked up the chalice, added a pinch of powder to it, doused the charcoal so steam obscured the area between them and then pushed the rest chalice, now half full into his hand. "Drink."
Lobo chugged the chalice without a second thought. Whatever it did, it did and that was that. There was no point in harping over what if's for Lobo, he just did. He stood there for a few seconds and after a few more seconds when nothing happened, he shrugged his shoulders. "On to the GUMBO." As Lobo said the word gumbo, he voice got lower, deeper, raspy. Oh shit, no. He got taller, and wider, even more muscular. His hair grew long, forming dreads. A mustache grew on his face, and whiskers where a beard would be. He looked around where he was and a sudden grin grew on his face. "Now you finally get to get a good long look at what you were missin' all those years, THIS is the main man hot cakes."
When the steam fell and the energy in the room depleted slightly as the spirits began to leave she just stared at him, blanching as much as she could with her skintone. It was enough to make her feel a little dizzy. She put her hand to her forehead. No, this could not be happening, not the one thing she'd feared might. The spell was intended to do exactly the opposite of this. She wavered on her feet for a moment, then took a step back, not knowing what to say. She swallowed a few times as she fought the dizziness brought on by the shock of what the spell had done, the power it had taken out of her and the suddenness of the dissipating energy in the room. The way she'd gulped down her wine might have a bit to do with it too.
"Awwww, that happy to see me huh?" He inched closer to Anita, being incredibly dramatic as if he had a big secret to tell her that was earth shattering. "I'm going to let you in on a little bitty baby bitty secret 'Nita okay? The main man is like a fine wine, he only gets better with age, and you can't look me in the face and tell me that you don't just want to drop right now and strip." Lobo pulled Anita's face towards him and started to kiss her heavily, stronger than he did when he was younger
His lips were the same.. it was that that grounded Anita and let her feel as though there was something to hold onto as the universe span around her. She reached up and grabbed his shoulders, still dizzy as he kissed her and then pulled back from the kiss, looking up to meet his eyes. "Lobo?" She asked, unsure he really was the same. She swallowed again, then quickly reached up to brush away the few tears that fell. This was it, he was going to leave, as soon as he got what he wanted he'd be gone and that would be that. She pulled away from him and turned away, hiding her face as the thought of being left alone again tore a sob from her throat.
Lobo smiled and wrapped his arms around her, holding her from behind. "Oh baby girl, my hot sexy sweet voodoo princess. I'm gonna tell you exactly what's on my mind." Older, he knew that life was too short to hold bullshit in, emotions or not. "Why would I leave you? You don't care what I'm like, what I've done, what I DO. You're gonna have to put up with me for a long, long time doll."
She stiffened, startled as his enormous arms curled around her, then listened, relaxing as she did. Finally she struggled a bit to turn in his arms to face him. Whatever she saw in his expression seemed to convince her that he was speaking the truth because she smiled through her tears, slid a hand across his stubble and leaned up to kiss him. "You better be tellin the truth, or I will find a way to turn you into a baby chicken." She said then, with a wet laugh. It was still him, even if he was kind of old now, it was still the man she'd completely fallen for.
"Of course I'm telling the truth woman, I totally love you. Now get that through your little human head, because do NOT use that hideous word, and never will ever again, got it?" Lobo started to kiss her neck, not even bothering to try and stop himself, however a few kisses on the neck in, Lobo suddenly had to pull away, immediately putting his hand to his stomach. "Holy fucking shit," there came the serious curses. "My insides are turning inside out or somethin' "
Anita was still reeling from his declaration of love when he pulled away. She immediately began thinking of how to get him to use that hideous word again, with-holding food, sex, tv, beer, when he cursed. She looked at him and then went over to him immediately, concerned. "Does this ever happen to you? Have you had mushrooms before?" Please don't let it be the spell she thought, worried what might happen next.
"No this doesn't ever happen to me. I'm a human garbage can, I've eaten things that aren't food and survived just fine." Lobo frowned and hunched over further, going down onto the floor. What. The. Fuck. Before he knew it, he was getting younger again, something he could obviously tell and feel. What he didn't notice was that he no longer exactly looked like Lobo. His normal chalky white skin was not a peachish color, and his red eyes were now brown. He looked completely and utterly, human. He still had the same build and hair.
Lobo kept his eyes closed, afraid to open them. "What the frag happened now? My life is a roller coaster."
Anita had no clue what to do. She tried to support him as he was falling but he must have weighed three-hundred pounds at least. "Jesus." She whispered as he doubled over, her hands on his back and shoulder as she knelt beside him.
She watched as color seemed to flood his skin as he shrank down to his normal size, or what she'd gotten used to as normal for him. she ran her hand soothingly up and down his back, looking at his face in concern. "Do you feel alright?" She asked, worriedly.
"Yeah.... that was just so weird. Young, old, young. Your gods were messing with us in a major way, weren't they?" Lobo had opened his eyes but had been looking at her. As he tried to stand up, he saw his hand, his now peach colored hand and he sat right back down. "Anita....my hand, it isn't white, aaaand neither is my other hand...."
He looked completely human, and he was rather hot. Not that he wasn't before but... this was different. She blushed slightly and shook the thought away "Yeah, but how do you feel?" The thought that he might be human scared her a bit, humans were fallible.
"I feel fine!! WHY AM I PEACH????" Lobo got up and ran out of the room to the bathroom to look at himself in the mirror and promptly screamed when he saw his reflection. He grabbed at his skin and pinched it. NOPE. IN a fit of panic, Lobo wondered if he had lost his healing powers too, was he completely human now?? He grabbed the toothbrush Anita tried to make him use and quickly jabbed it into his leg, deep enough to cause a serious injury and pulled it out. Much to his relief, the wound instantly healed and he breathed a sigh of relief, but he was still...peach.
"WHAT are you DOING??" She asked as she caught up with him and watched in horror as he pulled the toothbrush out of his leg. Her hand flattened against her chest in relief as she watched him heal, then she glared at him. "You idiot! What the hell do you think you were doing? You could have seriously hurt yourself."
"I needed to know!! An injury like that would've healed in a week, I didn't hit any major muscles or bones or anything, I would've been able to walk and everything." He looked in the mirror, frowning as he pushed hair out of his brown eyes. "I'm hideous."
"God, if you think you're hideous I can't imagine what you think of me." She said, eyeing the wound before coming over to stand next to him and looking at his reflection. She once again found herself blushing.
"Oh STOP, you're different, you're gorgeous." Lobo sucked on the end of the toothbrush that had been in his leg, although he didn't know why. He set the toothbrush down and looked at her in the mirror as something slowly dawned on him. "You're blushing. Why are you blushing?"
"I am not!" She immediately protested, looking down. "I mean.. well.. You are NOT hideous!" She insisted, glancing back up at him. "You've always been sexy but you're sort of gorgeous, like that."
A lot of people would've taken that the wrong way no matter what, but not Lobo, he looked at Anita with a grin and ran a finger down her chest. "You think so huh?"
"Yes I think so." She retorted, swatting his hand and then grabbing it. She pulled him over to her and kissed him, grateful that he was alright after everything. "Promise me not to try and grow back that mustache for a long, long time. Hmm?"
