An open invitation was a powerful thing. Especially when the invitation was to a heroes' base. A place like Titans Tower.
Cissie had spent a lot of time here over the years. It wasn't the Justice Cave in Happy Harbor, nor was it the old hotel in the Catskills, but it was in its own way a home away from home. Home now was bouncing back and forth between the Elias School, the Tower and life with her mother. Though more recently she'd been putting some of the money she'd earned since the Olympics (from her roll on Wendy and its spin-off Cherub) aside in hopes of getting a place... maybe with some friends. If they were interested. Making friends for Cissie had been the easy part. There were lots of people who'd wanted to be her friend after the celebrity status that came with being part of a TV show settled in. But her only real friends had been here. And it was for that reason that she'd spent so much time here in San Fran with them... and now things were going to change. Again.
The circumstances surrounding her retirement had been grim to say the least. Her own conscience being her guide she'd chosen to get out of the hero game as Arrowette (but not as Cissie) and it had been possibly the best move she'd ever made. It had given her time; the distance she'd needed to figure out who she was. Not her mother. Not the costume. Her. Saving Cassie's mother had brought her back. And she'd stayed back. Costume, tools and all. She'd been careful, not attracting attention from unwanted hero-watchers. Yes the red arrows were still a constant, there were some things you didn't change! And now it came down to her friends becuase her mind was completely made up! And she was nervous.
Shouldering the bag with her clothing (and costume), gripping the case that held her bow, quivver and arrows tighter, Cissie held her hand up to the panel next to the door. She'd been given clearance for entry, her biometrics in the system for easy access... The light flashed green and a pleasant mechanical voice bid her welcome. Stepping inside the lights went on and Cissie made her way upstairs, glancing around the large communal area for signs of life. She hadn't been able to make it out here for a month, her heroing had taken up a lot of her nights. But she didn't want to be alone in this.
When she didn't see anyone, Cissie tilted her head, the arrow target earrings - the only remnants of her original Arrowette costume that still existed (thankfully, that costume had been AWFUL) - swaying as she tried to look around the corner. Yes, this had been an unexpected visit. But that had sort of been the point. She never came to visit with her tools. Never... She had no doubt that someone would pick up the significance... Tim if no one else. She just wanted them to welcome her back...
Finally she knew that standing here wasn't going to do any good, so she changed the game a bit, calling out into the tower. "Hello? Anyone here? Cassie? Conner? Tim?" Someone was always here. It was really just a matter of who.
