Thais raised both eyebrows this time as Constans vaguely described his night. She leaned back in her chair, crossing her arms. There were many things such a statement could be suggesting. Thais wondered if she wanted to know or if Constans’ night was something a little more private than the average gossip.
At the question of whether she was waiting for someone, Thais glanced over her shoulder than took a glimpse at the door before looking at Constans. “Oh no no. Do not worry, I’m just spending some quality time with the books.” She gave a soft laugh and patted the dusty book in front of her, “Got to keep up with my studies and be a model enchanter.” Thais gave a tiny grimace when she realized her hand was now covered in dust from the book. Looking vaguely disgusted, she wiped the dust off on the table edge.
“Please sit down.” She gestured at the chair once more, “You can even study with me.” The woman glanced towards the door once more. No one was coming through. Maybe the tip she had received was wrong. Or perhaps she was in the wrong part of the library. She began to feel anxious at the thought. Thais paused before looking at Constans, “Speaking of meetings, you didn’t happen to see any grumpy old mages talking to each other somewhere in the tower within the last hour did you?”
