He only smiled fondly at her rejoinder, admitting that it was partly true. If he was honest – and he preferred honesty whenever possible – it was mostly true. Imenry’s take charge attitude, so much the anti-thesis to his own, was what he liked about her. What he loved about her. It was inspiring to be around her, because nothing could get her down or hold her back. For her, everything could be overcome, be it weakness or otherwise. Not that he was going to suddenly espouse the sentiment, but it was lovely to admire from afar. And now not so far away.
When she shivered, he tucked her against his side, enfolding her in a half embrace. He reluctantly relinquished her hand from his to do so, but draped his arm around her back instead. To warm her, he ran his hand up and down her arms, covered though they were by her clothes. In his anticipation, and because he had been busy this morning running around doing errands for his mother and Ravin, he was too warm for the few layers he had on. He was more than willing to part with his outer shirt should she want it, but he had other plans for warming her up.
“It’s a secret.” He said, a bit smugly, even though he was practically leaping inside to tell her exactly where they were going. Brennan was not known for being able to keep his own secrets, but it would be worth it to see how she reacted. Because he did not want her questioning any further, he pulled them to the side. In the shadow of one of the last buildings at the end of the village, he stopped and kissed her on the lips. He only meant to kiss her once, but against his plans – plans? Who needs plans – he kissed her again with greater fervency. His hands drifted down to her waist, ghosting over her arms as he went.
