Lillie took a small breath. She wasn't accusing Ordhan. She understood that he was doing his job after all. But the laws were often unfair, and he was as aware of that as she was. She bit her lip slightly and nodded at his words, shifting to sit back and gazing out towards the horizon.
"Well... I first met Azabeth and Lalin when they were children. They were best friends even then. Always playing together. I bought them lunch sometimes and they'd tell me about all their adventures. Lalin wanted to be a Knight." She laughed softly. "I know it's been a very long time since then, but... that's not all."
She hesitated, glancing at him. "Lalin and Azabeth were taught as girls, how to protect themselves, amongst other things, by someone whom I know well, and trust implicitly. I mentioned before that we exchanged letters. He's always spoken of them in these letters. Through those letters I still know her, just as if I had remained. I know it's probably nothing to you. My word is meaningless, but it doesn't change what I believe."
Lillie fell quiet then, feeling awkward with the tension between them again. It was hard to be on opposite sides of the issue. She did not consider herself a close-minded woman, or one who would not try and see the other point of view. She could only hope that something would reveal itself before it came time to return to Denerim, because she did not know what she truly would do if facing the possibility of letting Azabeth be turned over for a public hanging.
