After dinner Lillie had needed some time with her own thoughts. Her arrangement with Simon was satisfactory, but it was still strange to hold such an arrangement with a Templar, and to know that she might very well have to agree to return to the tower after this whole thing was over. That terrified her; the idea of being caged up somewhere. Would her letters even comfort her in such a place?
Taking the company's dirty bowls she'd murmured the offer to wash up tonight, a chore they'd been trading off amongst some of them. She left the conversation behind her, satisfied that spirits seemed to be a little higher than they had earlier.
It was a short walk towards the stream past the edge of camp, but through a little grove of trees that offered some bit of privacy. Not that privacy was really necessary for washing dishes, but she was glad for it anyway. It had been so long since Lillie had had any real privacy. Fifteen years living in Rivain she'd shared a room with three other workers. Not that she'd ever needed to have her own there, but sometimes there was still a desire for quiet solitude.
She held the first bowl under the water, swirling it so the stream's natural flow washed away the first bits of remaining stew. Then she picked up the coarse scrubbing brush and rubbed it into the dip of the bowl. The teeth made a soft scratching sound against the wood and she let the sound of it lull her for a moment, her mind growing clear as she let herself simply be at peace.
Two bowls were set aside to dry when she heard the sound of approaching footsteps, the clink of chain armor and Lillie shifted slightly to glance over her shoulder. She smiled as Ordhan came closer and then lowered himself to kneel beside her, the offer of help half a question. She could tell him not to bother and keep her solitude, but she wouldn't mind his company. It was clear that Ordhan had things on his mind, most likely relating to the group's newest member; Azabeth, a prisoner in his name. It was still baffling to her.
"Not at all.. I suppose we'll get it finished more quickly with the both of us." She turned back to the work, dunking another bowl beneath the surface of the water and scrubbing. There were other tools, a damp cloth, a larger brush that Lillie found unwieldy for her small hands, and a hard soap stone.
