Valan took a moment to process everything. It seemed there was one shock after another. First to see his son again after he had been so uncertain what had become of him, second to hear he had become a Grey Warden of all things, a noble order indeed. Despite this, Valan could not help but feel uncertain. He had fought in the last Blight, and Faer was saying there was another approaching, something he had begun to suspect with the amount of Darkspawn to be found in the forest.
But knowing this, knowing from experience just what battling the Darkspawn entailed, he could not help but feel regret that the remainder of Faer's life would be spent in this pursuit. Still, he was proud of his son and he nodded, offering him a smile before drawing back and looking over his shoulder towards where Galen was making an apparent retreat. He frowned and beckoned the young elf over. "This is Galen. His clan was already set upon by Darkspawn and were forced to move. They lost quite a few of their number in the defense. I believe Galen was the only one who remained behind to survive. We've been trying to track the clan."
His eyes swept the others as Faer introduced them. It was plain to see that the female elf was not Dalish. Probably from one of the many alienages. A dwarf was a surprise, but only because this one looked so young. She was not a weathered, bearded or tattooed warrior like Valan had encountered in the last battle during the Blight. And the human looked rather like a warrior or mercenary perhaps. Valan did not know what to think of the fact that he was so badly injured. Perhaps he had drawn the ire of the darkspawn on purpose, to protect the more vulnerable members of the party. He nodded a greeting to them all, then turned back to Faer. "Perhaps you should accompany us then, to find Galen's clan. I have no doubt the Keeper would wish to speak to the Wardens."
