There was little more that could be said. Lillie didn't have any words to offer that would lift the sin of inaction from Ordhan's shoulders, and her condemnation of him would only drive him away. Though she despised the things he told her sometimes she did not want him to stop coming to see her, to stop speaking to her. If he would accept her friendship it would have been already given. Deep down she knew that he was a good man, and hoped only that things like this would eventually change; that he might have the power to stand up for what was wrong and help others.
If all she could do to help him was to listen then at least she was doing something. It was clear that Ordhan was unhappy with his own lack of action in this case, that the events disturbed him. Even if he didn't do anything about it at least that was something. He wasn't comfortable with the way things worked, he simply felt powerless to change it. When he shuddered against her, his arms tightened around her and Lillie murmured something meaningless and soothing, shifting her body against his and leaning down to feather her lips against his temple.
She'd offered all the words she could on the topic, and though she knew the man's secrets, she didn't know how to make him feel better. The only solace she could offer him was her body; a world of pretend for another night. He would pretend that she was more than simply a whore, even though he knew the truth of it. And she would help him to pretend, because that was her job.
