Gedelle took her place at her husband's right, smiling over at the boy. "Please, you can call me Gedelle if you want. My husband is Irich."
Imenry screwed up her nose in confusion. Other grown ups called her parents by their names, but as far as she was concerned, they were just Mama and Daddy. Of course, she realized they weren't exactly Brennan's Mama and Daddy. He had his own. But it still seemed odd to her.
Before eating the family bowed their heads, her father giving thanks to the gods for watching over them from above, asked them to watch over those they could not be with. Then they began to eat. To Imenry this was a normal before dinner ritual, this prayer to their gods, and she assumed it was like this in everyone's home. Glancing over at Brennan she took a bite of her supper, making sure her spoon was mostly full of meat and potato, and only a little bit of the bitter greens that were supposed to be so good for her.
The stew was delicious though and she was quiet as she ate, having hardly ever been a picky eater for one, and always expending enough energy during the day that she had quite the appetite. Looking over at her father she swallowed a bite. "After dinner will you show Brennan your sword, Daddy?"
"Of course, if he's interested. Not everyone loves swords as much as you do Im."
She frowned, thinking he must surely be lying about that, but didn't argue.
