Brennan rushed down after his friend. While he had tried to make it first to the door, her enthusiasm had given her untold speed. He was force to come down after her instead. While he had understood that her father was one of the warriors who helped protect the temple, it did not really hit home until he saw the man. While he thought his dad was big, this man had to be bigger than life itself. It was the sight of him that reminded Brennan that he had been skiving off his lessons today. He wondered if Imenry's father would know, but mentally bemoaned the fact that of course he would know. Everyone knew everything always. It made him think that the neighbors could see into his life at times.
Not really given to shyness, Brennan managed a jaunty wave although his smile was a bit on the shaky and cautious side, and said, "Hi, Imenry's daddy." He forced his smile a bit more, feeling it stretch across his face.
What was the worse that could happen? Brennan consoled himself with that thought.
