Her eyes went wide with amazement and awe, a little gasp of surprise slipping out from between her lips as she crept closer to him. The little flicker of fire made weird patterns of light and shadow across his face and over the cavern walls and she looked around in wonder. "Wooooow..."
She looked back at him again. "Does it hurt to hold fire like that? Or are mages special?" She almost wanted to reach out and try and touch it herself but she was also scared of burning herself. She'd once made the mistake of touching a hot pot Mama had over the fire. That was a painful lesson to learn.
Outside the little cavern the wind howled, and she lifted her head at the whistling sound. This meant that the storm outside was probably picking up. The snow would come down harder. If they stayed here too long there was a chance the snow drift could pile up outside the entrance and trap them. But if Brennan had fire magic, then he could always melt the snow and make a path out! She smiled to herself, thinking that magic was pretty neat. Though, not as neat as being a warrior like her Daddy.
