He was ten, so that made her only three years younger than him. That made her a bit younger than he first took her for, but he had only recently turned ten too. In the end it made little difference to him, but it explained why he did not remember her specifically. Two years ago he would not have willingly played with a five year old girl if he could not have helped it. Now he was older and ever so much wiser, not to mention a bit depraved of honest fun.
At her question, he shook his head no, but he moved to sit down against the wall across from where she sat, before answering. While he was not exactly tired, he was a bit worn out from the earlier exertion. It was different from training at the Temple, he did not feel drained of life. Instead, this feeling was more natural and pleasant. He rested his back against the hard stone wall, the layers of clothes cushioning him from the stone's sapping chill. "My father's a hunter!" He believed that since he was a big boy now, and training at the Temple, he should call them Mother and Father now. Brennan was also very proud of what his father did. Without the hunters, they would starve.
"Mother works for the Temple, she's a mage." Brennan hesitated for a moment before adding, "I'm a mage too." He gave an half smile and shrugged it off. It was not as he was a real mage yet. It would take him almost ten years total to finish his training. That was a lifetime away. He would be old by then.
