Vienne had not been sure what she had pictured when Gwaren came to her mind before she found herself there, but it had certainly turned out to be like nothing had expected. She had been to Ferelden at least once before and what she had seen of it then had not left all that kind of an impression on her when it came to Ferelden civilization and society. Certainly the architecture, while sturdy since most of it had been built by the dwarves, was nothing special to look at. She had hoped that since Gwaren was at the very edge of the Kingdom that it would be different, but it seemed to match up with what she had seen before, utility before beauty, especially where the castle was concerned. A nice enough place, certainly a place she wouldn't mind being holed up during a siege, but it seemed as primitive as the estates in Denerim. And while she felt she was being good, not complaining to her host or children or making any comments that could have been considered less than favorable, she could sense that the Teyrna did not care for her Orlesian guest's opinion. Though there was something that told Vienne that it had more to do with the fact that she was Orlesian and had been informed to her relatively shady past, that her estimation of the older woman's home. That amused her more than anything else, Vienne's mischievous streak enjoying the mistrust from the Teyrna while most of the others she had encountered, particularly her daughter and son's hound, had warmed to her rather quickly.
As if thinking of the creature summoned her the sound of claws skittering across the stone of the rampart grew nearer. Vienne paused in her walking and surveying of the countryside beyond the walls to turn and watched as the hound approached her, stopping before her and wiggling her short tail. She smiled at the animal, "Coucou, ma petit loup." she couldn't call the hound her little dog, little wolf sounded better though, even if she was sure the hound was larger. The dog barked happily and continued to wag her tail expectantly.
She ran her hands under her fur-lined cloak looking for anything she could give the dog, but when she could find no scrap or treat for the animal she gave her a sad smile, "Désolée, ma fifille, it seems I don't have anything for you today, perhaps later, yes? I shall save you a piece of meat from my supper, would you like that?" the dog barked again and she took that to mean yes. She had often heard the veterans from the occupation of Ferelden talk about how the mabari were often more intelligent than their masters, while she didn't think that true after meeting Noa she could certainly understand why someone would think such a thing.
"You are a pretty little girl, aren't you?" she smiled to Noa as she knelt down to be face to face with the creature while she stroked her fur, paying special attention to that spot behind her ears that seemed to enjoy being scratched. "Ooh, yes, you are very very pretty, mon mignon."
