As Conlan surveyed the interior Ordhan remained in place, thinking quietly as he listened to the other's instructions. He nodded. Conlan had a point; the company could always use the extra funds, especially since they were larger in number than they were when they had first set out. "Perhaps some of the extra could be used to better arm the newcomers to our company," the knight suggested. It would be a good investment, both in their protection and usefulness. Conlan seemed to back off of the idea of selling everything, however; perhaps this was his indirect way of being charitable without being seen as generous. Why did he work so hard to avoid it?
"If a wolf is going to eat a person, it is not able to unclothe them first," Ordhan answered absently. He had never heard of a wolf that had ingested gold or lyrium, but at the moment he was more puzzled by how Conlan found out the contents of the creatures' stomachs. Did he routinely cut them open and search through their innards? ...Not a pleasant thought.
But the sight of Conlan staring at the ring was more than enough to distract him from the strange subject. His wedding ring. Ordhan glanced away; Conlan looked more sentimental than he had seen him in...who knows how many years it had been. It was Conlan's own business whether he decided to keep it or not.
It did, however, remind Ordhan of a memento he had yet to give his friend. It had been put off time and time again, but...perhaps not yet. Maybe a drink or two first would be wise.
