Ordhan could not be sure, but the latest subject seemed a sore point for the armorer, who answered in a tone that brought to mind prodding a dead thing with a stick. It was as likely as not that many of Denerim's citizens had tried to take advantage of the quality armor without sufficient payment. Denerim was hardly a bastion of honesty, or of wealth.
It was his good fortune, then, that he had been far from carrying all of his savings with him on that day, and only a small portion had been stolen. The greatest loss was the armor and sword, the coin being a pittance in comparison; despite his frugal life, however, replacing these things would make a significant dent in what he had saved--but he had it, and was not unwilling to part with it for something so important.
The knight dipped his head again, respectfully. "I have the funds to pay in full before you begin work." That would likely soothe away any suspicion on the dwarf's part. It might be more common to pay in part, then completely when the job was done, but if Conlan trusted Cyril enough to tend to his own armor, Ordhan felt there was no need for such precautions. The dwarf could tell him what the price would be, and both could be on their way.
