Elsa swallowed, not quite calm any more and slightly confused at her own reaction. She felt his will as if it was a tangible thing, coiling itself around her, bending her to his wish and command. She found she had no resolve to tell him differently. She did not know if he was a soldier or a commander, she did not know if he had the right to tell her what to do. He was a man and it made her accept his judgement, without even noticing it. She only knew that she had to obey and that she could not quite meet his eyes, however high she held her head.
Then he was gone, and she was left with the girl next to her, and sudden chaos around them, dark shapes swarming, arrows zooming through the gloom. She wondered if she had the power over more elements, trying to think of one that would aid her in this battle she had insisted of taking part in. There was chaos around her, utter chaos, but her eyes had gotten used to the dark and it was not too hard to distinguish the dark, malformed shapes of the attackers from the humans around her. She held up her hands in front of her face, palm to palm and thought about ice. She had been cold many a night, she knew the power of freezing. She thought about cold so intense it slowed your movements and made your mind sluggish. Bluish smoke swirled between her the palms of her hands, the edges tinted with white. She could feel the cold of it beat against her face, looking down on it, she thought she could hear it crackle faintly, like thunder. Slowly a smile spread on her face, almost a grin, the crazy joy of it sitting uneasily on her thin features. She felt alive, she felt good and she felt in control.
With a motion as if she was pushing the blue ice-cloud away from her, she moved her hands away, aiming for one of the dark horrors that swarmed around them. She was slightly surprised when the ice spread around her, hitting another dark shape next to the one she was aiming for. "Ha!" she called in ruthless glee, exhilaration raising through her veins as she looked around for something else to attack.
