The moment she spied gleaming armor in the distance, a jolt of excitement ran through Yonca. It was far off in the distance, down the road, but she stood up from where she was sitting with a startling speed. Without a word, the young woman gathered all of her items. Pulling out a small box from her pack, she began to open the little drawers that swiveled outwards. The girl pulled out two vials, keeping them precariously held in her fingers (one between the index and middle, the other between the middle and ring). As she held them, she shut the box and shoved it back in the pack. One of the vials looked questionable, a dark red sludge with swirls of dark brown in it. The other one had a bright blue glow with flecks of copper in the thin liquid. Yonca pulled her pack up on one shoulder and looked to Desi. Her eyes were wide with anticipation, but beyond that she showed no signs of anxiety.
“He is coming. Hurry, Desiderio, make sure you have your staff or whatever you decided to use.” Yonca glanced back out at the road, estimating how far away the templar was and the pace he was moving at. They would have to move quickly to get a spot for Desi to hide. A smile almost appeared on Yonca’s lips when she noticed the road was fairly clear. No other travelers except that shining silver armor in the distance. Yonca could recognize a templar’s uniform from miles away. Hardly waiting for Desi, the young woman began down the hill.
As she headed towards the path, she looked over her shoulder to make sure that Desi was following. Yonca began to speak to him, “I hope you are ready. Here, I have some... enhancements for you to use.” She paused in her walking and moved to be right beside Desi, “This is a swift salve.” She nodded towards the vials, her hand tilted to show off the blue vial, “The second you see the templar take off his helm, apply this upon any exposed skin that you can, preferably your arms and lower body if you can.” Yonca glanced over Desi’s attire for a moment, it would be difficult for the young man to apply the salve upon his thighs but she didn’t think the exact whereabouts of the application would make that much of a difference, “It might sting a little, but not in a painful way, just enough that you know it is working. Once it starts to feel like that, you have one minute to move out of your hiding spot and attack.” Yonca continued to walk as she explained the vials in her hand with a clear, precise, instructing tone, “Now, this one,” She tilted her hand to display the contrasting vial, “Before you put the salve on, take one to two sips of this. I wouldn’t suggest drinking the whole vial because this draught is very powerful, but it will strengthen you and any exhaustion you have will disappear.”
As she continued to walk, Yonca handed the vials to Desi, “Now, we need to find you a spot where you can see the road but the road can’t see you... and one that won’t be too difficult for you to travel to the road quickly and silently.” As they approached the main road, Yonca stopped in the last layer of trees. She glanced around before pointing to a small hill that was half-covered in the forest trees and bushes, “Go to the side of that hill. You should be able to still see, don’t go on top because templars are trained to look at high up vantage points since it is simple ambush mechanics.” She stated before speeding up her pace to reach the hill. Yonca crouched behind a bush, peeking out towards the road. She straightened and nodded, “Yes, this should work perfectly if you stay quiet. Be careful not to trip over that root there when coming out.” She pointed towards a twisted root between the bushes and the road, “Stay here and the templar will pass you by and then I will halt him right after he passes you... about... there.” Yonca glanced around the hill, pointing at a spot a few feet away on the road. The templar was probably approaching fast, but still far away enough that they had a few minutes. Yonca brought her gaze to Desi, an anxious expression upon her features now, “Are you ready? Did you have any questions, Desiderio?”
