israa nilas ; waking sea ranger (israa) wrote in thedas,
Once they'd gotten passed the scene in the hallway, and had moved into the room, Israa found herself carefully watching the elf, not too concerned with the other dwarf. She'd admit that her watchfulness was more suspicion that curiosity, but no one had asked for her opinion, so she'd keep it to herself. When seats had been offered, the ranger silently declined, instead leaning on the wall just beside the closed door, one leg crossed casually over the other. When the smaller of the Warden's addressed her, she tilted her head forward a tick and dismissed the apology with a flick of a few fingers. "It is no trouble, Warden." Which wasn't really the case. But again. Trying to be polite.
She hadn't expected the other to address her while the dwarf was speaking, and was more obviously startled than she would have preferred when her attention snapped to him. "Oh. Well." She stood up straight, her hands coming to clasp behind her back as she tried to piece together what it was the Bann required of her. "Her biggest concern is with the horde. Whether there is one or not. How fast it's moving, and in what direction." She kept her voice low, as not to interrupt the adjacent conversation. "While traveling south I came in direct contact with just a few straggling pairs, but the largest groups I've seen were no more than a band of ten." Which wasn't to say that the encounters weren't strange. It was rare that she come in contact with so many darkspawn - her time on patrol was usually spent dealing with bandits and tainted animals.
"But my Lady feels that since Grey Wardens were recruited so vigorously, the darkspawn must be amassing somewhere. She only wishes to be prepared if they should come north. The queen offers little detail, and even with Highever to our east, the Bann refuses to become backed into a corner if heavy threat should move toward the Waking Sea."
