israa nilas ; waking sea ranger (israa) wrote in thedas,
Israa was still sitting quietly, watching the brawl unfold and become more interesting, when all of a sudden the group of them seemed fall back around each other. She was surprised, a rare feeling for the ranger. Shock wasn't something she normally displayed, but she couldn't help it. She was then amused, watching the drunks fall over on one another, trying to get up without much luck, but she suddenly became suspicious. When her suspicion, apparently shared by others, was shouted aloud, she began to study the crowd.
They all seemed to be in agreement - there was a mage somewhere in the tavern. It could have been anyone, but she looked for the obvious, first. Studying the crowd, she first saw a woman running up the stairs. This would have made her more suspicious if she wasn't small and frail looking. Of course, Israa thought that about most women who weren't her colleagues. She seemed to be running away to protect herself from the ruckus, and she couldn't hold that against her. Other than that, she saw no one who looked guilty, but she didn't have much time to look, as the crowd of them fell in trying to find the mage for themselves.
Then, over the noise, she finally heard it. It rang clearly in her ears, as if the din of fighting had stopped just so the word would reach her safely. Warden. There. In a tavern. During a bar fight. This was where she would find the people she was looking for? She almost hoped that the addressee was some other kind of warden, but she would have been terrible at her job if she didn't investigate. Finally standing from her seat, she moved forward if only to get a better look at the mass of people, one hand lingering toward her smaller knives, a warning if anyone decided to get near her. From her new angle, she watched and listened intently, hoping to find the mouth that would reply to Warden.
