He fixed his stare toward the highway, where nothing continued to happen. Normally, Desi had no issues with eye contact, but normally he didn't admit to anything shameful--and having been raised for becoming a warrior, this was pretty shameful.
He was quiet, thinking over her words before he spoke again, for once his voice quieter than hers. "I hate how they get to choose how to define the world, how they force my hand, and how I know I have to fight for freedom because they've already taken away every other option. It's... frustrating." Honestly, it made him wonder why he bothered abandoning the camp altogether, or it did until he remembered
Desi glanced at the space beside her, finally tearing his attention away from the road. He returned to his usual lively manner with a grin. "You know, I'm going to start tapping my heels after a while on the log if I do that. After a few minutes of enduring the tap-tap-tap noise, you'll probably regret telling me to sit down." Nevertheless, he left the tree in favor of the log and sat plenty still. "So, what's your plan for our friend the templar? If I don't know, I can't help but worry for both your healths."
