The walk was simple enough. Yonca had walked it more than once already. Even so, she kept her gaze focused upon the ground. She listened to the boy converse with mild interest. He seemed quite use to chatting in the easy way he shared simple information about his father. Despite this looseness, he had proper manners and Yonca appreciated this. Such manners made her feel more at ease. While she was becoming accustomed to conversing with and trusting strangers on her own, she still did not like it when the strangers made it difficult to be around. Too many were horrid, blunt beings and it was always nice when a stranger made the effort to at least be polite.
The boots she wore were sturdy and did not let moisture sink through as they began to reach the moist ground of the shore. She glanced out at the dark waters becoming visible in front of them.
“Desiderio...” She murmured, being careful with the pronunciation of the name. It was not a name she knew, but she was still intrigued. Stopping at the edge of the shore, Yonca watched as the waves crashed. She took a deep breath before continuing, “Are you with the Wardens, Desiderio?” The young woman asked in a passive tone as if it would be simple information anyone would know. It was a fair enough question, knowing that the keep was the main focus of Amaranthine these days. Most were coming in to be recruited by the wardens or help the forces. After a second or two, she realized that such a question might appear odd to ask, so she quickly added on, “Or... simply traveling through? I haven’t seen you here before.”
