Quintus caught Imenry’s glance at him. A strained smile appeared on his thin lips at her words of curiosity. As the woman began to speak about her own experiences, he found himself surprised Imenry had such a short time exposed to darkspawn. The way she fought it seemed like she had a few years or more. He reminded himself not everyone had the luxury of being old with many years to accumulate such experience.
At this thought, he couldn’t help but wonder just how old Imenry was... or Ashya for that matter. He knew Ashya was much younger, she gave it away in her mannerisms and attitude, but Imenry was much harder to pinpoint. She seemed older, but it could easily be the wear of experience that created such an attitude. Then again, it didn’t really matter did it? Age was just a number. Quintus use to think those older were to be respected, that they were wiser than those younger and their advice should be regarded highly. Then he grew to be older himself and found this was a flat-out lie. If a younger person tried to respect him in the way he use to when he was young... it would be a waste of effort.
He surveyed Imenry, “You have quite a ferocity when you fight, Imenry.” The man’s words were simple and obviously a compliment. Looking to Ashya, he reached over to take his flask away from the girl. He twisted it shut and placed it on his belt. Quintus brought his attention back to Imenry, “Tell me, Imenry, you seem to be experienced in battle, should the party create a few tactics for the next time we encounter hostility?” He kept his tone light and conversational despite the weight of the words he was speaking, “Tonight went well, but it easily could have tipped in the darkspawns’ favor. We need a better plan with the consideration of our mages in mind since they seem to be apt to want to battle with everyone else.” He nodded towards Ashya with a small smile. To Quintus it was true, the quick reaction of the party to the Chanter’s dilemma was sufficient, but if there had been a few more darkspawn or if Ashya had gone into shock completely while alone by the trees, they could have easily lost one of their numbers already.
