Imenry had taken the time after dinner to clean and sharpen her sword, sitting in the little tent with Signy until the dwarf had drifted to sleep, mostly out of the exhaustion of traveling and the battle today. The camp was mostly quiet now, people settled down for the night. But aside from the crackling of the fire she heard the soft murmur of voices.
She knew one of the voices must be the young mage Ashya, as the girl had yet to join Signy in the tent for the evening. She knew that Ashya, as the youngest member of their current party and a circle mage, had never seen a real battle before, let alone against creatures as disgusting and twisted as darkspawn. The battle tonight had been sudden, but they'd overcome the enemy easily. Not all battles would go so well, and sometimes they would be outnumbered. It would only get more difficult from here on out.
Imenry's first instinct was to suggest the young woman return home to the safety of her tower, a parental instinct that came out of nowhere these days. But she knew that Ashya would never stand for such thing, knowing teenage girls as she had once been one herself. She would have never wanted to be told that she couldn't do something.
Quietly pushing aside the tent flap Imenry ducked under the canvas and stepped out into the night air. She could see the two figures silhouetted against the light from the fire, the small slender form of Ashya, and the bent figure of the older elven man, Quintus. She was surprised to see the man up, as he'd gone to bed hours before, or so she'd thought. Her boots made a soft sound in the dirt as she approached the two, moving to stand beside the fire. Her gaze slipped down to the flask sitting in Ashya's lap, the flask Quintus carried with him, that she knew contained liquor. If the young woman wished to have a drink, Imenry did not doubt that tonight was a good time to do so. She would not have time to face the reality of what they were doing here. They had to press on towards Redcliffe, and the chance that they'd encounter more enemies on the road was a good one.
If she drank too much though, she would not be feeling very happy in the morning, so Imenry resolved to make sure that the girl didn't end up completely smashed. Going to her pack she pulled out a pouch of jerky and a roll of bread, before moving to sit beside Ashya at the fire. "You should eat," she said, passing some of the food towards the girl, before offering some to Quintus as well. She didn't say anything about how late it was, or ask any questions, knowing that to pressure the girl would not do any good.
