Smiling at his introduction the girl was surprised to find that she was irrationally pleased that he had given her his last name, that he was still using it… that he was still able to use it. Granted another dark part of her hated him for it, her heart ached and she wished that she could still confidently introduce herself as Eileen Wyland but she knew that she had been… forgotten.
She could remember one of the adults - had it been a mage or one of the Templars, their face was a blur now – sitting her down and telling her about her own funeral, knowing that somewhere in Denever there was an empty grave bearing her name. Swallowing down the knot in her throat she pushed away her all her sadness and jealousy, it would do her no good and their was little point in dwelling on what could not be changed.
Ignoring her aching chest Lee set about repeating Constans’ name under her breath a few times so she could memorize it and found herself frowning at the familiarity of his name. It was impossible for her to have known him before she came to the Tower, while he was older than many of the new apprentices he could not have been more than a baby when the Templars took her away if he had even been born.
Tugging on her ear in annoyance she decided to shelve the mystery of Constans Ledaal’s name for now and come back to it later, it was so familiar, the connection was right on the tip of her tongue. It was incredibly frustrating. Lee knew she would remember why it was she knew his name eventually and that when she did she could ask the boy about it.
Summoning up a weak smile she inclined her head in a small nod and looked the boy directly in the eyes. “It is a pleasure to meet you Constans.” Feeling her smile waning fast she made a quick gesture towards the rapidly cooling remains of his food. “Pleasantries can wait though, you should finish that before it gets too cold,” she said before she laughed lightly and offered a self-depreciative smile, “warming spells are not really my specialty. All temperature related spells actually.”
