Re: Alienage Back Entrance
As uncomfortable as it had been to make himself vulnerable to the others – again — the softness of Falina’s voice and the gentleness of her expression showed that the young dwarf was more than ready to accept him. Her apparent faith in him made the indignity of baring his heart more bearable.
Soon, her tone became more businesslike, more matter-of-fact. She wasn’t giving orders exactly, but seemed to have at least a vague idea of what she wanted the group to do next. Davin straightened the way he saw soldiers do, and stared down at her in rapt attention.
After addressing the group at large, Falina looked back at Davin. At his lute, in fact. “Can you actually play this, or is this to impress girls?"
He stared at her a moment before a short laugh escaped him. It was the first time he had laughed without irony or bitterness since his last conversation with Marianna, seemingly an age ago… it felt good. "Both, I suppose," he said with a smile.
His smile faded when Cormac approached and informed Falina that he would be joining them. Perhaps he imagined it, but Davin felt certain that he saw Cormac send a distrusting look his way. Falina seemed happy enough to see Cormac, so Davin brushed off the thought as his own paranoid imaginings.
