Walking at the back of the large group the Karashok loomed over his companions, a beacon drawing all eyes to them. The added presence of Hissra probably did not help matters, it could not be often that the people of this city saw two Qunari traveling with a group the size of theirs. His skin itched and he could feel their gazes on him, watching, it was not something he enjoyed but in these southern lands is was something he had grown used to. Still the eyes of so many people was somewhat discomforting and so much attention was unlikely to aid them on their quest.
They would be able to move quicker and more efficiently the longer their presence within the city went undetected and having so many eyes focused on their party was sure to catch the attention of the very people they were searching for. It was impossible to know whether that attention would draw their quarry to them or drive them off. The Karashok was not willing to take the chance and did his best to appear less obvious, a hopeless task if there ever was one.
The intent of those he traveled with was to scour this city and find the Slaver’s hidden among the muck and bring them to justice, saving their victims from the fate that awaited them. The trouble would be finding what pile of refuse the Slaver’s were hiding beneath, the whole city was filthy and the smell... it was wretched. Still if their quarry caught word of them it was quite possible they would flee, escaping their grasp, and they did not have time to go chasing after them. This was not their mission, it may be honorable but it was merely a distraction from their assigned duty.
Shaking his head the Qunari dismissed his concerns for the time being and focused on scanning his surroundings for any sign of their prey or any other danger that awaited them in Denerim’s alienage. So far the only problems facing the group were the dirty street urchins, circling his companions like the scavengers they were. Head held high he stared imperiously down at them, lips curling back, teeth bared, and watched in amusement as a number of them scattered back into the shadows.
Satisfied for the now he waited patiently as a small number of his group stood off to the side discussing a man, a possible slaver, which one of the elven Wardens had spotted. It seemed too coincidental but for now he would follow where the Wardens led and the general feeling suggested that they would continue on as planned, deeper into the alienage. Sparing a glance on Hissra, checking to make sure all was as it should be, he went back to scanning their surroundings.
On guard, he stood ready for whatever awaited them ahead. He would not let anything take this new group by surprise… he would not fail again.
