Cicero frowned in confusion when Tam kept hold of the boots. She tilted her head slightly to the side as she looked up at him. He was quite close. With her sitting on the ledge, his torso was up close to her upper body. Her eye level was right upon his chest but she kept her gaze to stare up at the man’s bright blue eyes. She paused, feeling her breathing constrict. There was a tension in the room that hadn’t been there a moment ago, not for her at least. It was almost overwhelming.
“Of course.” She responded to his words, the tone to them absent as if he was trying to remind himself more than tell her anything. Holding onto her boots still, she glanced away to the street below. After taking a quick breath, she looked back. Her uncovered eye was bright and seemed to almost shimmer as she considered the man, “May I... have my boots, Tam?” She gave a soft tug to try and take the shoes from him.
