Cicero watched the street below as Tam silently listened to her request. She hadn’t expected him to say no. The woman had been working with him long enough to know that such requests were often fulfilled with Tam as long as they were asked nicely. It was enjoyable to have a partner that actually seemed human. In the past years, Cicero had been stuck with partners that had been from simple drones to homicidal maniacs. Tam was different than that, he had a clear humanism to him that was rare in the business and she appreciated his company... something that couldn’t be said about a lot of people that she worked with.
When Tam returned, holding her boots out, she raised an eyebrow. The woman shifted on the ledge and slowly raised her leg. It curved slenderly at a diagonal tilt before she lightly touched Tam’s arm with her toe as if she was testing the temperature of a river’s water. She offered a playful smile, “Put them on for me?” She asked, her tone filled with amusement.
Only a couple seconds passed before she laughed and lowered her leg, “Simply jesting.” She explained, reaching out to take her boots. The woman winked at the man. He had such a serious, intense expression she hoped that she could lighten the mood a little bit for him. Perhaps he was nervous about receiving the day’s shipment, she knew she still had a knot in her stomach about it. She reminded herself she was ignoring that feeling.
