“Thank you Ordhan and… yes,” Lalin looked away from him, as though she could shut out this conversation, but she didn’t stop speaking. She couldn’t walk away from this part of her duty. She was a Grey Warden now, and there was nothing she could do to change it. Saying and doing uncomfortable things was part of that, it seemed. “You have my word. If Dolain does anything… nasty, I won’t let him get away with it. And I won’t let him keep his weapons either.”
Dolain would chafe at that, but if Ordhan demanded that his weapons be taken away, Lalin knew that it would be under only the gravest of circumstances. It spoke to just how close to death Ordhan had been that he thought Dolain would be able to repeat those circumstances with in so short of a time. If Dolain put himself in that position again… well, Lalin wouldn’t be able to speak for him. It would break her heart, but she knew her duty and she knew the trust that had been placed upon her. She wasn’t going to betray that.
