Lalin remembered him, yes, but she had been a child at the time. She couldn't remember the way he had treated the elves or how he had acted while on duty. She didn't know if he had been good at his job or if he had slacked off. All she could really remember was that the blond guard who often was on duty near her home was entirely too much fun to pick on and tease. He had been her favorite target, though it was doubtful that Ordhan had been grateful for that. Lalin had been a terror at that time in her life and she knew it. Her grandmother had been too old and frail to really discipline her and, without any school to attend, Lalin had, had entirely too much time on her hands.
He spoke of a time after she had known him though. Recently he said. She wondered how recently. When he told her what Dolain had done, Lalin's shoulders slumped, heavy with the sudden knowledge of what bringing her former lover into the group may have done. "I... I am sorry, Ordhan. You are definitely justified in your opinion of him." She hadn't thought he wasn't, but Lalin hadn't realized just how much he had to hate Dolain for. "I didn't know... That's not true, I guess. I knew he hated humans and I knew that he wasn't above hurting them or others to get what he wanted."
"I loved him," she confessed, looking down at her hands. "I turned a blind eye to a lot of what he did... I can't really do that any more, I guess" The thought didn't bother her. She was young and inexperienced, but this Grey Warden thing... she wanted to make it work. She wanted to have something to be proud of. She wanted to be good at it. "And I won't," she added, looking back at Ordhan with a determined expression. "If he gives you trouble, let me know. I'll take care of it."
