He took a deep breath of the ocean air as he continued on his meandering path down towards where the woman sat. She wasn’t all that difficult to recognize in the moonlight that reflected from the ocean. It did cast her in a different light though, a softer one than he was used too. He was sure that he looked quite different to her eyes as well. Casual, calm. He was just another soul strolling down the beach in the middle of the night.
“Life takes you odd places sometimes.” Aurin said with a smile. His gaze was drawn back towards the gentle waves that lapped up against the shore. “I take it someone who wanted to come here decided they needed a bodyguard?” He asked the logical question, unless she was here to volunteer her services to the Wardens.
He returned the smile as he ambled over towards her. It was good to see another familiar face, one that he had only occasionally met in the past few years. He had wondered what had happened to her after their paths diverged for the last time. However here she was again, along with several other people he didn’t think he would meet again. “Mind if I join you? Or you want to contemplate the ocean in private?”
“Well yes, that’s why I’m here. Always has to do with mages some way or the other doesn’t it?” Aurin replied with a wink. “I took a break from hunting, to do something really dangerous and go help the Wardens. At least it’s a change of pace.” He chuckled once as he added. “…and the first time I saw the ocean was….lets see. Three or so years ago. Not the most pleasant of voyages, but at least it ended well.” Pause. “And I got to meet a bunch of pirates out of it, so it makes for a good story.”
He blinked for a moment though at the sheepish admission. “You can’t swim?” He looked surprised before he shook his head. “Sorry, sorry. Growing up on a little island surrounded by water kind of required me to learn how to at least keep my stubborn head above the water.”
