"So yeah, with the exception of Captain-having-the-worst-day-ever here." Con waved a hand toward Brethor, "It seems like everyone involved is guilty in one way or the other.
And once they get to a Denerim court? The accused might get sentenced right away. If Ordhan is there to do the accusing, they'll be in luck because he's the most decent honorable noble knight in all of Thedas. They may even get a fair trial, provided he stays for the whole proceedings.
If it happens right away, great. If there's a back log we could be in Denerim for months waiting. And the accused will get to sit in a nice cushy dungeon until their trial. They can get used to it, because after the trial that's probably where they'll end up. Except for the elves. Elves, mages, and people previously accused of a crime get to sit in the dungeon for a little while guilty or innocent just so they know their place. And if they were nobles they'd get to go free, guilty or innocent. So the merchants have a fifty fifty chance of life in prison I suppose." Conlan let out a breath, and suddenly felt that he'd let slip far more of his personal opinion and experiences then he should have. He decided to make a valiant attempt at getting back on topic.
"All of that though, depends on what we do, and how much time we're willing to spend on this. And for me, I say we should spend as little time as possible. Because, again; job we should be doing. There's a whole mess of darkspawn headed right for the Dalish, until we find them they are in danger. If we had the time, I'm sure we could come up with a number of creative ways to make these people pay for what they've done, but we don't have the time. Yes, the Dalish can defend themselves, but there is a chance they may lose a lot of people in that defense. People we could have saved." Conlan turned and pointed toward Davin and the other elves.
"These people aren't getting sold into slavery now, that's been stopped. That's what's important.I wish we could do more, I don't like that we can't, but in the end, punishing these people, is just not worth the lives we put at risk by taking the time to deal with this."
