Darrian leaned towards his friend, noticing the way the little boy's eyes lit up when talking about Shianni. Despite the grime, he looked so starry eyed, it was quite a sight to behold. Darrian felt a smile forming on his face despite himself. The young kid obviously had quite the crush on the fiery redhead that made at least half the elven community exasperated with her impetuosity and uncontrollable temper.
"Buy her a bird? I doubt he'd be able to afford a real Orlesian bird," the boy said, somewhat sarcastically. Maybe if he conned enough shem out of their coin, it might work. It was, of course, flattering that Davin said his drawing was better than a fancy Orlesian bird, which dispelled any doubts he might have had about not agreeing to the plan wholeheartedly.
"Shianni always looks beautiful! ...well, maybe not when she's dead drunk," Darrian said, rubbing his chin thoughtfully, deciding immediately he'd have to draw her wearing the clothes of a noble. Those beautiful, silken things that they wore, with the long, decorated skirt that they had to lift slightly to keep out of the mud and dust, exposing tiny feet clad in wholly unsuitable shoes for Denerim's roads. And flowers, yes, pretty ones with ribbons threaded through her hair, and a string of pretty pearls around her neck. He sketched fast on a small corner of the parchment, just aiming to get the general idea down without details.
He did wrinkle his nose at Davin's last requirements though. "A dog?" he asked, glancing around at the mangy dogs that called the alienage their home. "Cats are prettier, and don't smell half as bad. Let's give her a cat. Won't she get wet in a river? She'll ruin that pretty dress. She should be sitting in the grass on a cloak so she won't get dirty." It was just a drawing, but it had to have some kind of realism.
