She had a lot of reading to do, and not a lot of time to do it. If briefings were tomorrow, and there were a few days before leaving, it certainly limited the window in which she could study. Given all her traveling, it was easy to forget that an equal portion to those excursions had been devoted to study. Old records, books, endlessly sorting through scrolls and tomes in the remote archives of Thedas, diligently hunting down what could have been missed by those who came before her. It was that attitude that spurred her to the library now -- the battle that started everything occurred thirty years ago, but within Vigil's Keep, memories of the massacre remained fresh. She doubted that there was any Warden in these halls that didn't know about Ostagar.
Deidre moved along the shelves, espying the lone occupant in the room bowed over a piece of paper. She didn't disturb him, however, busily hunting through titles until she got to the ones she needed. Slipping a single book from the shelf, its title denoting what purported to be a first-hand account of the Darkspawn battle there, hazel eyes fell on the spine of the adjacent volume. Surprise fell over her features at seeing a copy of The Lives of Hundreds... there.
Taking it from the shelf as well, she turned it over her hands thoughtfully. Her stare fell on the cover, taking in the familiar lettering. It was only her second book, another momentous task -- authoring a whole scholastic treatise was never easy after all, but certainly not as memorable as the writing of her first when she had been holed up in Aeonar for a year. Still, it represented years of hard work and a few dangerous journeys. She couldn't help but cradle it in her palm reverently.
I should be surprised it's here, but I really shouldn't. The Wardens probably collect plenty of lore regarding the Blight, and not many travel to Tevinter from here to get them...
Sliding the book back where it belonged, she turned to head for the tables. "That seat taken?" she addressed Conlan, nodding to the one across him.
