Vi smiled gently towards Thren as he spoke; so it was politeness, his sense of respect that she was still working out. Somehow it made her feel a little better. "Darrian and I had a rather large misunderstanding about Kinai, is all. He attempted to...well, he didn't realize it wasn't my fault, and I gave him reason to suspect me." She winced; the roundabout explanation was probably more confusing than the original conversation.
She looked back at Darrian and grinned, nudging the elf in the ribs. "And no, Alerrin is...well, he's different than pretty much everyone else on board. And I'm not sure he could do anything at all to make Bob like him. Mortal enemies or star-crossed lovers, I haven't decided. But he owes no one anything- I owe him my immense respect." It was clear from her tone that she meant it; her relationship with the quiet man ran deep, though they rarely talked about their bond. She shook it off after a moment, straightening her shoulders.
"So what is it you are good at, Darrian? I can find a use for almost anything on board."
