It was hard not to be in good spirits on a fine day; Vi had spent most of her morning near the helm, although running the boat when the wind was high and the sun was shining was second-nature. The sails billowed and the ropes groaned with soft stretches. Her crew were busy, and despite the sideways glances now and again and some more pointed remarks from Reara, they were not treating her much differently than they had been a week ago. She'd tried not to change much about her routine, acting like nothing was amiss, and it seemed to be working. That was good enough for her right now.
"Al..." Her first mate, at her side as usual, turned and lifted one brow a few degrees. He had not mentioned one single thing in the past week out of the ordinary and she inwardly smirked. Faultlessly proper pirate; somehow it worked on him. "Helm." She gestured grandly at the wheel and he moved to take it without question. She slapped him on the arm, wanting to stretch her legs.
Her limbs were loose and limber as she glided down the stairs on the right side of the stern castle, wind blowing back her red hair. As she padded across the deck quickly, she almost ran into a cacophony of blonde ringlets and giggles; Kinai, who was apparently playing some kind of game of tag over her deck. Vi lifted a brow, but couldn't be mad at the girl - she only hoped she wouldn't trip anyone with all her running around.
Vi held up as Kinai ran past and waved, and then glanced over her shoulder. She lifted her brown eyes to see what the child was looking at and then openly stared. She saw Thren first - he was bigger - but there lounging at his side in discussion was Darrian; apparently up and about after recovering from his wounds. She smiled wryly to herself. Of course the young men wound find each other; probably desperate to get away from all the clingy pirate women, although that thought seemed somehow ironic.
She approached slowly, her hands on her hips in bemusement. She could think of a dozen things to say - tell them to hop to and stop lolly-gagging around her deck, order them to work like men or die like dogs; there were lots of pirate expressions that she was fond of. Instead, she tried to be inconspicuous, her curiosity winning out. She wondered what they were talking about. She glanced down at Kinai and put a finger over her lips, and Kinai grinned, repeating the gesture right back at her. She was completely adorable, and Vi couldn't help but grin at the child.
