When Talfryn had suggested going to hunt for some food Imenry was one of the first people to offer to help. She was quite good at tracking game and her aim with a crossbow was good enough to kill the meal with little damage. She'd hunted a few times previously with the man, between Orzammar and Amaranthine when they'd made camp, and found him to have skill with the task. So she and some others had joined him, and made their way into the forests surrounding the camp. It seemed a good area for game, and already they'd shot a pair of pheasants. But their group was too large to eat only a pair of small birds, and they'd taken their time tracking a deer some ways from camp.
It was frustrating because they kept losing the animal. Someone would talk or make a noise and startle the creature, and she could tell that Talfryn was losing patience. It was growing dark now and they had to find something, because the others were going to be hungry. They had supplies of dried meat and rations, and some herbs and vegetables, but having some fresh meat to put in their bellies would certainly be more satisfying.
Imenry brushed a lock of dark hair behind her ear, motioning slightly to the tracks she spied on the ground. There was enough daylight still in the waning sky to see by, and she hoped the moon would be enough as well, at this rate. She had enough experience hunting at night that she really wasn't too worried, but she didn't like leaving Signy alone for this long. True, there were others at camp that she trusted, but she knew the young woman became uneasy in new situations, and she should be there as a buffer.
She'd volunteered to help Talfryn hunt simply because she needed the activity. Their day of travel had been uneventful, and unless she could goad Aurin or one of the others into sparring with her, this was likely to be the only action she'd see for a while. Not that she wanted to be set upon by bandits every hour, but at least once a day... would be nice. It seemed the fighting might have to wait until they reached their destination, and set out to deal with whatever problems the Bann of Redcliffe was having.
