The older elf frowned at her and Vi merely lifted a brow. Obviously, he was not an easy man to impress, but she had a measure of respect for any Dalish. She was familiar with the way that they led their lives - the hunters were skilled, especially in this forest, and for a man to live as long as he obviously had spoke volumes of his skill, awareness, and strength of character.

"Yes. As far as I can tell raided right out of the Alienage, though of course their stories are their own." Viara's smile eased a little bit at Merrill's probing questions, and she lifted one shoulder in an inelegant shrug. "The sort of human who was raised by Dalish herself, Keeper. And the sort of human who values freedom. Whether or not my heart is kind is up for debate. We've been traveling for a few hours... from a general....that-a-way direction." Vi winced, hooking a thumb back over her shoulder.
"Towards the coast. I- it's cloudy, and I didn't bring a compass. Afraid I've lost my bearings...a bit.
