Something We Can Fight Who: Imenry Barras, Conlan Delaine Where: Amaranthine, The Warden's Keep When: 12 Molioris, 9:45, Midday Summary: Training in the grounds at the Keep Rating: Fine for all.
After her spar that morning, and the lengthy lesson with Constans, Imenry had left the training grounds for a quick meal, and after finding herself restless from inactivity she made her way towards the training grounds again, sword slung over her shoulder. There were people everywhere, but they were wrapped up in all their own thoughts and feelings, their worries and fears. She moved past them without a sideways glance. Whatever thoughts she might be having now were her own. She wondered briefly where Signy was, but the young dwarf knew Imenry's habits well enough to come and find her here if she should need to. She moved through the doorway to the open grounds, her eyes moving over the few people who it held. She didn't know any of them, didn't see Ser Ordhan or Constans among them still. They must now be seeing to other duties, especially the latter, as the Tranquil always preferred to be kept busy.
She crossed the open space on sure feet, reaching to draw the claymore off her back. She looked for a roomy area, away from others and the training dummies. She preferred to train against other people, or simply on her own without a stationary target. Imenry moved to the furthest end of the area, where hardly anyone else was working. She drew a long breath, falling into battle stance, before lunging into the first attack, the sword swung over her head and around. The movements of her body were fluid, as if she and the sword were one, a long line. Her muscles were in tune with the blade. She drew it around for another attack, the heavy blade singing through the air.
Twisting her body she thrusted the blade forward, as if goring an invisible enemy. Her concentration was fierce, her eyes narrowed. And though she saw everything around her, she paid none of it attention. They did not give them any thoughts, only allowing herself to get lost in the familiar motions.
