bethen avilla ; the circle mage (bethe) wrote in thedas,
Though Bethen hadn't realized it until she could see the dwarf, she knew then that she hadn't only heard her coming, but felt her presence, as well. A strange sort of awareness crept into the back of her mind; she knew this girl, but they hadn't actually met formally in the few days between the Warden-Commander's arrival from Orzammar and the past evening. Was this part of the Taint? The Warden-Commander -- Alistair, she wanted to call him now, as he was slowly becoming less of a lofty figure of myth and legend and now a man, her leader -- had said they could feel the darkspawn, but if they were all linked by the same corruption, didn't that mean they could feel each other, too? She would have to look this up later. Surely, there was some sort of...manual or handbook on how to be a Grey Warden. Or at least she could ask someone like Mona.
Beth smiled at the young woman, trying to be friendly in spite of how on edge she was feeling. She shook at head, "Oh, no, not at all. Couldn't sleep either, I take it?" Silly question. How could anyone really rest easily only hours after they had witnessed twelve people die in agony? Furthermore...if they were now bound by the same common corruption, perhaps she was not alone in dreaming. Though dwarves didn't dream, did they? But this one -- she was a special dwarf, if Bethen recalled correctly. Curious to know more, she gestured toward the empty seat beside her, "Please, you're welcome to join me if you'd like. I wouldn't mind the company at all."
The mage watched her quietly, waiting to see if the dwarven woman would accept the offer. But she understood if solitude was preferable; after all, she had sought out this nook in the building on her own, though she could have easily wandered around to find someone like Coan or Alderic. But now that she had someone with her, she really didn't want to be left alone at this hour. "You...must be Signy, am I right?" Beth asked, though she already knew her name, if not from the ceremony, then because of the process of deduction. "I've already met the other-- Er, I've met Rhocanth, and Falina," she paused, not wanting to imply that she was lumping all the dwarves together as one unit. She peered at Signy with further consideration. Her surname was presented as Dagna, and...she was supposed to be a mage, too, if she wasn't mistaken. They had much more in common than being Grey Wardens, then. "I'm Bethen, by the way."
