If she didn't mean to be amusing, Faer still found himself with a small chuckle that didn't surface his mouth but rumbled around his stomach. She certainly didn't give off the scatter-brained personality, but she had already apologized to him three times, giving him a novel when he's only responded to her with a drabble. First, she apologized for not introducing herself when she struck their conversation, then apologized for his not introducing himself (he'll come back to that explanation later) and lastly apologized for asking a question, she seemed to think that he found rather obvious (which was entirely not the cse.) Fact of the matter is, he had figured her stoic and very warrior-like, but it was apparent that she was much more than that.
The realization that he didn't introduce himself back hadn't even come to his attention until she mentioned it and he blushed slightly, hoping that she would understand that he was not rude but just...absent-minded. In fact, he had been so distracted by her words as she kept talking to him that he had a bit of a hard time keeping up with her. This, even though he understood and knew every word she spoke, made him feel slightly simple, as if he had to run a mile with his brain and she was perfectly content running a marathon with hers. Normally, someone wouldn't like this kind of relationship, but Faer actually enjoyed this aspect; if he were to be honest while being modest, there weren't many people out there who could keep up with him intellectually.
As he listened to her speak, trying to find the best way to throw in his name, she had already delved into her childhood and he was surprised at how quick she was to trust people, feeling slightly overwhelmed as if she might have been overbearing him. He, of course, knew she didn't do it purposefully, she probably was just trying to strike a friendly conversation, perhaps being kind when she saw that Faer (who had thought that he always been good at hiding his emotions, but some people were just intuitive enough) wasn't necessarily feeling his best today. Especially not after the attack. Even though she opened the topic with his background, she immediately turned the attention on her and he figured she sensed that he wasn't willing to talk. Not to a stranger.
"Do not apologize," he said, trying to sound as gentle as possible but could hear his voice being stern. He took a moment to readjust himself and then threw out his hand, giving her the opening for the human tradition of a formal greeting, "Imenry, I'm Faer Arandil, the Keeper's--" he suddenly stopped to correct himself, "I'm...uhm, just Faer, I guess. Now." When he tried showing her a smile, it was weak and wobbly and he hoped, blushing slightly again, that she wouldn't notice or care about his shyness (not to be confused with skittish.) He turned back with her, trying to muster up as much interest as possible before engaging her in a question, "But I appreciate that. It is not everyday I meet a human willing to greet a mage graciously." His eyes twinkled.
