She felt the hand against her bare shoulder, fingers and palms rough like her own, and sighed, letting out a long breath as she allowed her eyes to slip open. It was easy enough to get sucked back into the past, and memories that would drag her down like someone floundering in deep, cold water. But she had always been able to push those thoughts away, and as nice as Dee was being, as comfortable as felt in her companionship at the moment, they barely knew one another after all. Perhaps sometimes it was easier to talk to someone you didn't know, but she never talked about this, not to anyone. She offered a small smile to Dee, and this time she did manage it.
"It's fine. I guess that it just... it hit something in me. I don't like to talk about it, but if I do change my mind... I'll keep your offer in mind." She sighed. "I guess it's nice to know that there's someone who will listen. Usually everyone I meet is too busy trying not to listen, or see. I don't really have any relationships that have gone beyond a simple moment." She tilted her head. "I suppose until I met Signy really. I always remembered the moments I had with others before... but it seemed transient, my life. They were all people who would have never have known any different were I to die the following day."
She chuckled. "I'm being depressing, and its awful. Perhaps we should think of something else to talk about. After all, you were in such a lovely mood when I first got here; singing and dancing with that lovely broom."
Imenry shifted slightly from where she sat, silent as she tried to think of something else to talk about, some other question than that of dead or missing parents. She grasped onto something that Dee had mentioned earlier, about her friends. "You said you were here with a friend? I'm sorry, what was her name? How long have you known her?"
She stood, moving across the room to grab some more ale, looking over at Dee. "Want another?" She put aside her own empty bottle, busying herself with the simple task.
