"If they don't follow the Chantry's religion, it seems almost surprising they are left alone at all, not just their mages," she mused, her voice curious as she regarded Dee. "You seem to know more about them than others though. And judging from your earlier comments about not turning in their mage... you must have spent some time among them? What was that like? I have to admit I've only recently been through the forest, when the Warden Commander led us back here. I avoided it when I was alone. It's not supposed to be terribly safe."
She was silent a moment when Dee started talking about her duty as a historian, and the many mistakes of the past and she found herself considering the history she knew of her own people, and their past before they'd become isolated. The intolerance with which differences had always been greeted. "You're right about that... the mistakes that is. I can't see it changing very much anytime soon though. Not when the way of looking at things is only from one point of view. It's rare that there's someone like you, who simply wants to understand."
"Yes, perhaps that's true," she agreed. "About the dogs. I seem to see them everywhere. But... to be honest I kind of like them." She did too. She found Shartan to be great company and really easy to win over if you had a fist full of treats.
"You were found in Denerim? I'm sorry... that must mean you haven't got any parents..." She sounded sorry about that. Seemed there were so many orphans to be found these days. But she couldn't imagine growing up without her parents. "Oh... it's in the mountains. Very isolated. What we needed we provided for ourselves. I guess it's why things strike me as so strange sometimes... There was no fighting between us. We needed one another to survive."
