Rhocanth was still not so practiced at this notion of "keeping watch", though he understood its value and tried to copy Imenry's movements as best he could. He walked beside her with his thumbs in his belt, chin unconsciously high. His gait was not too swift at his height, but sedate and steady, not jerking around much so that it was easier to adjust to him. He nodded his head to her once when she looked down at him.
"Am I always... so polite?" he laughed gently at the question, the corners of his eyes crinkling. "I do not think this is the real question, Imenry. The question I might pose is why anyone should not be so nice to you. You are a fine, talented woman. Your presence should demand respect." Something small made a noise off in the brush, and Rhocanth stopped talking to turn his head in that direction. A rabbit peeped out from between a low bush's branches. That must have been a good sign, if a timid creature was out and about in the open. He smirked with amusement at it and continued. "Please, think no more of it. I am glad to tell you anything you might want to know. As for my behavior... it's simply that protocol, or at least the semblance of it, is very important in the Diamond Quarter. Honor is paramount. Whether this is actual or superficial honor is another matter."
The young dwarf gave a bit of a cold sniff, and abandoned the subject. His skin seemed to chill upon it, face a little pale. To warm it back up, he accepted the offered jerky and chewed contemplatively for a while. "I would like to dream," he said at last. "Fair, or nightmare. I would like to know what it is like to "see" something I have never witnessed with my own eyes."
All chill disappeared at mention of Falina. Rhocanth grinned privately, as if he knew exactly what she was getting at. It wasn't as if he'd tried to hide it, really. Why should he? He was a healthy young dwarven male, she was an attractive female... it was, as they say, how the world works. "No, I don't mind at all. She had been so quiet when we first met. I was growing concerned. It's good to see her feeling more comfortable."
