Ordhan had been rather surprised when he was approached by Enchanter Keigwin. They had met upon her arrival at Vigil's Keep, when he took Hilda's place in helping her find her room; though she had said she would look forward to their meeting at the feast, she had not appeared again, and Ordhan dismissed her words as mere pleasantries.
Even when she approached him just now, it seemed that it was only the result of another of Conlan's deflections. Conlan was ever evasive when prying questions neared. He disappeared moments after introducing Hilda, for one. But the enchanter's questions were hardly invasive; she seemed merely curious, and friendly in a distant, formal way. Ordhan was surprised when she expressed interest in learning how to use a sword. Her bearing was ladylike and delicate, and after the first bedraggled appearance she was always impeccably groomed.
Yet here she was, testing the weight of the blade in her hand and inquiring after stances. That was a step too far ahead, however.
He held out his hand. "Perhaps you would prefer to use a training sword? They're made of wood, and much lighter, not to mention safer. You may also want to set your staff aside." He glanced down to her feet. She was wearing long mage's robes: not the best outfit for training, but did mages wear anything else? Constans trained in them, though, so it would serve for now. If she decided to continue, he could suggest clothing that would limit her movement less in the future.
