At Imenry's praise, a smile creased around the knight's eyes, though his face remained solemn. It was charitable of her to describe him such. He had lost their first duel to her, and she could have simply dismissed him as an amateur. The ritual of Joining for the Grey Warden recruits was tonight, and those gathered would be divided and sent with them. If he and Imenry were sent on the same mission, he would make sure to learn those tricks she had offered to teach him. Imenry had already guessed his reason for offering to teach Thais. They were different in many things, most kept silent, but their warriors' minds worked the same in others.
"I am not certain how often Constans practices, but I hope it is often. He has skill, and is a quick learner." Again Ordhan wished that there was more time for it; he rarely gave instruction on anything, and Constans was the perfect student as well as good company. "I hope he is able to get the armor. It will be important if he does leave." The tranquil had proved strong and powerful in offense, but his ability to defend himself had its weaknesses.
The fact that mages were not allowed to wield weapons would have given Ordhan pause, but certainly no one could take objection to a practice sword. Constans had mentioned training at the tower with such, so Ordhan would not be defying the Circle's rules in this.
The enchanter was looking about her, head still lifted high and hands folded delicately. She was attentive but there was an uncertainty about her. The situation was no doubt quite different from what she was used to. Ordhan noted this, reaffirming that he should begin slow and remain patient.
He nodded his thanks to Imenry's offer of help as he approached a training rack. She had proven to be a natural teacher with Constans, while he mostly remained silent, so if he faltered he was certain she would be able to step in. "A light sword would be best," he replied to the enchanter's suggestion. One hand lingered on the rack of practice swords as he examined them, then chose one of the shortest. This he offered, hilt-first, to the mage.
