Signy nodded, watching how the leather moved as much as how much freedom Jaden had in it; it was so bendable, and Signy rather quickly began to see the advantages of it, over plate or chain. In some situations, at least, certainly. "Good armorsmiths will fit your armor to you," she contributed, "if you're willing to find the right smiths and pay the coin. And then the size difference between elves and humans wouldn't matter nearly as much." She'd observed a difference in size—and hoped it really did exist and she wasn't just babbling because the two or three elves she'd had chance to meet up close were slim and shorter than other topsiders.
Speaking of misjudgments she'd made, Signy shrugged, looking a bit sheepish. Maybe their houses were just very large? "I just saw those huge trees and thought... Ah, well, that seems like an impressive process, nonetheless. But," she pursed her lips, thinking a moment, and then, "And, pardon, but what's a shem? I've never heard that term before."
