He grunted at that, and drifted back into the sights and sounds of a forest at night, unwilling to spoil the seemingly hesitant peace that had formed between them with another conversation that might go wrong. It wasn't long before Shartan lifted his head with a snuffle, peering back behind Cormac in the direction of camp. "And it looks like they're heading our way," Cormac said as he scratched Shartan's ears, the soft words sounding much louder in the heavy silence that had grown between them. He unfolded himself and stood, turning to face the two arriving dwarves, and with a nod at each of them Cormac strode off towards his own bedroll with Shartan close behind, relieved to be finally finished with the longest two hours he could remember.
