"No, I was up." Falina laughed, the fresh wine was still sharp against her lips, and her entire body felt warm. She'd been up with some of the other recruits, most of them double her age, listening to their stories about the Waking Sea, and Rainesfere. They all came from places that she'd never seen, and possibly never would.
Drust in particular was interesting to her; covered in tattoos, quiet, and sat further removed from the others. He wasn't rude, but seemed... hesitant to get attached to his fellow recruits. Maybe he was wise for doing so, but it only flared Falina's curiosity.
There were simply too many people to know, and yet this girl was another. "I was walking off some nerves, but I was heading back to the mess, if you'd like to join me... there are plenty of others." She was feeling friendly, and the girl was obviously alone. Solitude in a fortress only encouraged depression.
