Thais stayed silent, gripping her staff as she watched the templar carry Beth away. She raised an eyebrow as Ashya picked up the book that Beth had been carried and ran off to return it. She sighed softly, closing her eyes. The woman placed her fingertips on her temple. A pounding headache was beginning. Perhaps it was a result of Beth’s mindblast or maybe just from all the stress that was going on. The woman felt like she should probably go lay down.
Opening her eyes after a few calm seconds, she glanced around to realize that her and Constans had truly been left alone. They were still out in the open, but now it seemed almost peaceful in the courtyard. She looked over to Constans who was looking at her in a thoughtful way. Thais was about to say something, but he spoke first.
The request was a tad surprising, but understandable considering what had just taken place. She tried to figure out what Constans was going to say but it was impossible to decipher the tranquil’s intentions. Thais nodded lightly, “I will.” She paused before wondering what the tranquil thought about what had just happened, “Do you really agree with that girl; that you don’t want me to spend time with you?”
